75th Anniversary School ReUnion

To mark the 75th Anniversary of the School, the Head Teacher, Nick Christou, has kindly agreed to host a reunion of former pupils and staff at the new school premises in Chestnut Grove on Saturday 23rd June 2012. The following day, Sunday, a less formal gathering will be held at the East Barnet Old Grammarians Clubhouse in Allan Drive, Barnet, from mid-day until late.

Saturday 23rd June 2012
The school doors will open at 2.00 pm and close at around 9.00 o'clock in the evening. Classrooms will be set aside for individual year intakes; the recommended first port of call for attendees. Light refreshments will be available all day and there will be a licensed bar. A buffet supper, including wine, will be served between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm for those that have pre-ordered. Memorabilia of the intervening school years will on display, mementos of the day on sale, and much more. There will also be a souvenir brochure, which is included in the ticket price. Members of the school's photographic society will be snapping away all afternoon to record this momentous occasion; the photographs will be displayed on the school/ebog website.

No doubt there will be sadness that the old school building is no more but, speaking from experience, this will be quickly dispelled once you have had a tour of the new premises

The highlight of the day, though, will be meeting up with school friends that you have not seen for more years than you care to remember, and in many cases renewing those friendships once again. Be prepared, though, for your classmates to have changed somewhat in the intervening years; it will be nearly 70 years for some!

You will receive an email receipt of your purchase. Remember to save this and to bring a printed copy with you on the day. This is your entry ticket.

Funds are needed to keep the old students association (EBOG Ltd) going and for developing and improving the school. Donations, therefore, would be gratefully received.

If you prefer to purchase tickets by post, or know of former pupils who wish to attend but don't do IT, a booking form is available on this page for you to print out, complete and return with your payment.

Partners are welcome to attend (they will still have to purchase a ticket, though!) but we politely request that children do not attend, although they would not be refused entry.

There will only be limited parking available at the school, so you are advised to come by public transport or be dropped off. If you are thinking of booking a hotel for the night, then you are advised to do so early, as they already look fairly full around that time; search on the Internet.

Emily Armer (emily.armer@yahoo.co.uk) is putting together the reunion brochure and would welcome contributions. In particular, photographs from the late 60s, 70s and 80s, especially those showing the school uniform; also earlier photographs with examples of prefect's gowns; brief reminiscences of teachers, dinners, uniforms etc (just a few lines each); key event dates, for the Timeline etc. We'd also be interested in receiving copies of any group photos from the last reunion in 1987. Emily cannot, of course, guarantee that all contributions will be included, but they will all be appreciated.

Sunday 24th June 2012
The East Barnet Old Grammarians Ludgrove Clubhouse in Alan Drive, Barnet will be open from noon until late for those who wish to continue the weekend reunion celebrations or were unable to attend on the Saturday. This will be a less formal affair; an opportunity to relax in the sunshine (hopefully), chat with friends and partake of the excellent food and wines that will be on sale. There is also a licensed bar. There will be a nominal charge of £2.00 per head. You are requested to purchase tickets in advance, so that we have an indication of the numbers to expect for catering purposes, by going to the same website as for Saturday tickets.

Finally In addition to the EBOG website, the reunion has been advertised on Facebook and Friends Reunited. It will also be advertised in the local press. Please spread news of the reunion to all former pupils and staff that you have kept in touch with or know the whereabouts of. It promises to be an unforgettable weekend. Make sure you are there; you will regret it otherwise!
