Before i go on and describe the action of an accomplished Ebog display, i will briefly introduce you to the interesting journey across London. Using the TomTom, we set off across London to the directions of John Cleese as downloaded by Boycie. Boycie then insisted that John Cleese instructed him to 'beaver' left. Then followed an hour or so long discussion as to whether this made sense with Boycie insisting this meant vere to the left, and the more intelligent members in the back insisting he had mixed up his animals and that Cleese must have instructed us to 'Bear' left.
Then Tilcock (the philosopher) briefly awoke from his alcohol induced coma to deliver the following:
'The term beaver left/right derives from the fact that hundreds of years ago, beavers used to have one leg shorter than the others, and so on long journeys, would slowly but surely vere in one direction. The philosopher then reassured us that evolution had fixed this problem. The Philosopher then went back into his coma, while i explained what evolution was to Spenny.
Needless to say, i have dne my research, and this story is completly unfounded so i will not mention the word beaver during the est of the report......
After a long journey, we beavered to the left, and arrived at our destination. Kick off was delayed while we waited for half of our opponents team to beaver there way to the game. Ebogs were fairly slow to get going and played within ourselves for a good portion of the game without ever looking under any pressure.
Eventually we began to dominate proceedings, by using Spenny and Matty, and them beavering the ball left and right to good effect.
A few chances came and went with Berry beavering his shots straight at the keeper before we were given a helping hand by what looked a fairly soft tackle on Boycey. He however went down like a fat middle aged beaver and rolled on the floor for 10 mins - Cuacao down to 10 beavers.
We got the all important goal just before half time, with midfield goals machine Jakob beavering his shot into the bottom corner.
From then on we took complete control using the wide spaces experty and playing some lovely stuff.
Goals followed from Seany, Berry, and Jakob again before Nayee finished things off with a finish that fittingly beavered to the left past the helpless goalkeeper.

What a huge disappointment. We have minimum requirements for every game with attitude being number one. Our attitude was extremely poor today. All the momentum from the two excellent performances so far that resulted in wins was lost as we strolled through the game against a side that we should have beaten. Having said that they are probably saying the same about us. If we had half the attitude they had then we would have won. They never stopped chasing and closing down. They ran all game, won almost all of the second balls and stopped us passing. Although that wasn't too difficult as everything we did was at a pedestrian pace. This may have something to do with half the team feeling under the weather after the previous nights exploits.
For 10 mins we looked ok. Created a couple of chances had a few corners but from then on until half time Merton gradually got on top and grew in confidence as they realised we were not up to speed. They had the better of the remainder of the half without creating any real chances. In fact we gave them their most dangerous opportunities as we kept giving away ridiculous free kicks around the box although the Ref didn't help us at times. Merton finally scored when another free kick was fired across our box and we all left it to someone else leaving their striker to tap in at the far post.
Harsh words at half time had an effect and we scored fairly quickly. After a series of corners and pressure, Jakobsson latched on too to a loose ball. Unfortunately we had already given Merton momentum and they never gave up. They scored against the run of play with a quick break. Still we pushed on. We had the majority of play for the rest of the game with Merton counter-attacking. We had chances, lots more corners but Merton held out. I think they deserved the win solely because of the difference in attitude between the sides.
I said this was a huge disappointment because I didn't see this performance coming. I'm hoping this was a one off.
It's simple. If we don't improve our attitude then it's going to be a long season.

Another abject performance, which again took strong words at
half time to prompt a response. We got found out last week and
only a much-improved second half performance prevented us
getting found out again. Not good enough and we will struggle
until individuals can get themselves up for the game.
We had the better of a first half although we continually got
caught with long balls. We had chances and finally took one
when there captain talked once to often to the Ref and got
booked. We took the resulting free kick and Goymer looked to
have haded home before Caroll A made sure. Their captains
running battle with Carroll A finally saw him see a straight red
card for smashing his hand into Anthony's face as they lay on
the floor after a tackle.
The strong words at half time had an effect and we dominated
the second half. We could and should have had a cricket score
but missed umpteen chances. We went 2-0 when another fine
move saw Boyce race down the left, whipped the ball across the
keeper and as Nayee waited to tap in, their defender poked
home. We were getting over adventurous and another long ball
on a rare Stationers break found us out and Spenny's slight
shove resulted in a penalty, 2-1. We upped our game again and
got a penalty of our own when Nayee's legs were taken from
under him and Boyce slotted. More chances came and went and
we had to be content with 3-1.
Another performance far from good enough. Away at Norseman
next week, we better improve or it could be embarrassing.

An excellent victory after a much improved attitude and commitment throughout the game saw us through a tense final 25 mins.
After the 2 previous disappointing performances albeit with a victory, we started this game on the front foot. The majority of the first half was played in their half with Norsemen counter-attacking extremely quickly and causing us problems. Once we got to grips with that I thought we deserved our first half lead. We took the lead early on after some quick passing released Carroll and he got to the ball before their keeper and defender to poke home.
2 goals were then traded after the Ref gave both teams penalties for handball. First Spenny was harshly adjudged to handle the ball with his arm by his side and turning away from a shot. 15 mins later we got one of our own for a similar offence and Boyce shot home.
A positive half time talk and we started the second half well. But after an even first 15 mins Norsemen committed more men forward and put us under pressure especially from their midfielder who kept launching huge throws into our area from as far out as 40 yards. I lost count of the number of headers we had to win. But despite this they didn’t really create any real chances. Neil didn’t really have any saves to make but he made a difference coming to catch some of those huge throws. We were our own worse enemies really as we dropped deep but we held out for 3 good points.
Excellent performances from all but the attitude and commitment were the most pleasing aspect.

Our performances continue to improve. Another excellent
attitude helped us to eventually overcome a physical Foresters
side.
It was a close game throughout and it took us a while to get
going as Foresters robust attitude put us on the back foot. We
gradually got back into the game and started to catch them on
the break. We came close a couple of times in the first half, but
the game was still close on the hour mark when Foresters got
through for their first real clean break and were unlucky when a
shot came back of both posts. But we were the side looking
more likely to score and hit the woodwork ourselves when
Jakob connected first time with a cross but hit the bar. Jakob
soon after also had a goal incorrectly ruled offside. Extra time
came with Clarky coming on for Sean. 5 mins in we finally
scored when a corner came back to Boyce who crossed to the
far post for Clark to power home a header. Three times we
nearly sealed the game. Berrys shot cannoned back of a post
soon after the goal and straight after Goymer had a shot headed
off the line. We still had time for Spenny, 4 yards out, to head
wide a Boyce cross.
We should all be extremely pleased with our attitude. This is the
basis for a successful season. Our passing will come if we keep
this attitude and then we will be a difficult side to beat.

A day to forget. We had dropouts which left us with 11 and no subs but our preparation was fine, got to the ground with plenty of time to spare and had a good warm up. But from then on things went wrong.
We didn't start anywhere near the right tempo. We allowed Carshalton to get into their stride and pressure on the ball was almost non-existent. Having said that, in the first 15 mins, we had 4 of the best chances you could hope to have. 3 times we had a player clean through on goal only for Jakob, Berry and Nayee to hit straight at the keeper. Jakob also had a great chances when their keeper flapped at a corner and Matt had only a defender on the line to beat from 8 yards but side footed over.
We were allowing Carshalton's runners free reign and we paid when they scored with a free header from a corner after 15 mins. Straight after their cocky midfielder came in studs up and landed on Stacky's ankle and that was him out the game, down to 10. The Ref saw nothing wrong with that tackle ! Their right back scored a once in a lifetime 25 yarder and a goal immediately before half time left us 0-3 down.
Things got worse when, within 5 mins of the second half, Jakob pulled a quad muscle and we were now down to 9. You could say we were up against it ! But we never gave up, we hassled and harried despite not seeing much of the ball. We restricted them to one good chance and one long range miss hit which deceived Neil as it looped over his head. Even managed to create a couple of chances ourselves.
Our policy of not having squads for each XI can sometimes result in the situation we found ourselves in today, with no subs. Carshalton players were taking the mickey during the game calling us amateurish but that exactly what the SAL is after all ! Every 1st XI we've played against this season has had 3 subs but I wouldn't change anything. Giving every player the possibility of progressing up to the 1st XI during any season is the right way to do things in my opinion. OK, we can get bitten by this as shown in this game but I think it works for our club. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEBOG !

The cow field had just been ploughed which made it hard to
play our usual silky passing football. Yesterday all my troubles
seemed so far away. But today my troubles were by my side as
we played 90 mins in 1st gear. Butch Phil Mitchell got a goal but
we thought it was an o.g. Spliffo then lit up dooby and looked
dangerous. Dandy shoes unfortunately have come back into
fashion, they look like clown shoes which sums up the gaylords
who wear them. Custard pie is what Richard eats all the time
that is why he is so fat.
Miss after miss came and went but we eventually scored in the
second half when one of our resident fat boys, Phil Mitchell,
headed the ball goalwards at 1.5 mph and the keeper managed
to juggle the ball home. 12 inches is the full height of Caskey

5 players missing and a disabled left mid in C.Boyce we ended
up losing 5-1. First goal was a Carson moment for Tilko who
had only just put on his gloves after a heavy night. The EBOGS
then went on to pile pressure on, and we got a corner. Boyce is
very old and there 50 people strong support agreed with us but he hit a great corner to Phil Mitchell who struck a perfect volley into the top corner.
Stiffy, is what I could call a referee who’s decisions influenced
and changed the game, not mentioning Boyce’s apparent WWF head lock on a 6'4" opponent !.
1-1 at half time, old man Boyce no not Terry the older
looking one Chris had a very arousing speech and that got Colin
very horny. Sam Patel is fatter than a fat man in a donut factory.
We then hit the post, soon after we hit the bar, soon after that we had a shot
cleared of the line. Super Skip chris had just said the game
was in our hands but an appalling call from the ref from a free kick
gave them a pen then started off the rot we lost our shape and
could not string more than two passes together. The call for the
monkey, what has this club come to, Colin steps down. Time.
Sean then tackled himself into a booking, Sam had to calm him
down. The ref called a halt to this complete Ref prduced farce and we all
retired to the cold showers, not happy with the result. R Harris
showed and kind gesture by offering the ball back to the ref,

Our injury nightmare continues. We received 2 more long term injuries today as we finally succumbed to the circumstances as we finished with 9 fit men.
We decided to try and take the game to Wilsonians and started with 2 up front. This paid off for the first 30 mins as we looked the more dangerous going forward. We could have gone ahead on a few occasions before Dufour received the ball 25 yards out, shimmied and struck home into the top corner. To be far Wilsonians were just starting to get on top a little and for the last 10 mins had a few corners and we did well to turn round at 1-0 up.
We had a great chance to extend our lead at the start of the 2nd half but Sam didn't quite connect right with his shot. Wilsonians scored after 15 mins with a scrappy goal but we were still holding our own. Unfortunately we conceded another goal that we should have cleared 10 mins later and we were starting to look unorganised. We tried to rectify this by bringing Barker on but 5 mins later he limped off followed quickly by Jakob. So down to 9 and this basically sealed the tie. Wilsonians scored a third when Goymer scored an unfortunate own goal whilst tackling a forward and the game was over.
Wilsonians deserved their win but we played well enough under the circumstances and here's to our injuries clearing up once and for all.

A win's a win I guess but for 45 mins we played poorly. Our attitude was no where near good enough and until the boys realise that they need a 100% attitude for the full 90 mins then they will continue to struggle for large parts of the season.
On the carpet that is the bottom pitch (well, a carpet that has has deep ridges dug into it every 5 yards !) we found ourselves 0-0 at the turn around. We had beaten South Bank 5-0 in the first game of the season but today their attitude was good and the first half was fairly even as they were first to every loose and second ball.
A few strong words from myself seemed to have an effect as we raised the tempo of our play and pressed them high up the pitch. This made a huge difference and we dominated the remainder of the game. We finally scored when a neat Harris header found the net and from then on we looked like scoring on every attack. Nayee broke the offside trap to neatly slot home then ruined it all with a stomach churning point of the finger to his girlfriend on the line as if to say "That's for you babe" - he wont hear the last of that !
Carroll raced through to curl home the third to finish preceedings. A win but improvement is a must.

Merton were not too happy by the end of this game. They
apparently thought they didn't deserve to lose, that they were the
only side on the pitch, that they were the only side trying to play
football. Rubbish. We had SEVEN, yes SEVEN players out. I
would like to see how Merton coped under those circumstances,
I think we coped pretty well.
With Jakob and Stacky still 3 weeks away from a return and
Goymer n/a till further notice what I didn't need were FOUR
dropouts on Friday night. Clarky, Barker, Carroll A and Dufour
all dropped out due to injuries picked up in the previous game.
So big changes had to be made including old man Stringer who
came in for his first game in nearly 3 years.
Understandably it took us a while to get used to the changes in
personnel and formation and for 15 mins or so it was Merton,
who started this game in 2nd place, who had the pressure. We
had to defend a few corners and generally dig deep. But
gradually we got into the game and we started feeding the ball
out wide and were getting some joy. After 30 mins we took the
lead when Boyce whipped a cross in, Berry helped the ball on
and Harris smashed home. We end the half on top and started
the second in the same vein. We were the side looking more
likely to score and after a few corners we did when the ball
came back to Boyce, he whipped another ball to the back post
for Berry to head home.
We were looking comfortable until Merton scored, and in my
opinion it was a blatant offside goal. A corner was headed out to
the edge of the box when it was fired back. Their striker was 5
yards minimum offside standing right in front of Tillcock. He
deflected the ball, which deceived Neil and poked home the
rebound. Feeling aggrieved, we then inexplicably had a mad 15
mins. We were all over the place defensively and struggled to
regain our composure. Subs coming on and a change of
formation helped us regain said composure and we had 2
excellent chances on the break to seal the game.
So a victory and all credit must go to the whole team. Harsh
words were said before this game and everyone gave a positive
reaction. This attitude is the minimum required if we are to
convert our games in hand to points to help us sustain a
promotion bid.
Well played boys.

Following last weeks great attitude and good win against
Merton the 1’s knew they could take HSBC. Unfortunately we
assume that all we had to do was turn up. With a poor warm-up
things didn’t look good and we started just as bad. An average
HSBC side were made to look very good by a sluggish start by
11 blokes that appeared to not be bothered. Wave after wave
had to be defended until with about 1-0mins left of this half we
started to create a couple of chances. On the stroke of half time
Stringer’s clearance to Boyce resulted with a first time pass to
set Harris on his way. He rounded the keeper but was brought
down by him. Penalty, Boyce stepped up and coolly finished 1-
0 Half Time.
Rather than a bollocking we talked about the bad
things and then focused on the attitude we needed for the second
half. We stared well but still not picking up they slotted the ball
through to their forward who finished well 1-1. The 30 seconds
later straight down the pitch for Harris to be pulled down again.
Surely the Ref would do the right thing and send off their
keeper, but no Boyce wrestled the ball from Harris and scored
his and our second. That settled us down and changed the game
and after that created great moves. Berry got the ball on the
fight turned inside and then out and slotted to make it 3-1.
10mins later Chalky released Nayee for number 4. It was all
over although HSBC got a late goal the damage was done. Great
performance from Rob Harris who worked hard and deserved a
goal for all his efforts. A classic move from Chambers turning 3
players inside out would have resulted in the best goal of the
game. In the end a comfortable result against an average oppo.
We can’t afford to start like that again or we WILL be punished.

So it's just the league now then ! We are out of all the cups but not without a fight. The pitches at the club are now at their worst state for a long time. After the work completed on them pre-season, we knew they would get worse before they would get better but jeez ! So credit to all players for producing a game full of incident.
We decided to defend against a strong wind first half knowing hard work was the number one requirement and although Owens and most of the ball, it was a couple of defensive mistakes that saw us 0-2 at half time. Strong words about taking the game to Owens and pushing everyone high up the pitch worked. The game was played mainly in their half with Owens counter attacking quite well as we took chances. It was us who looked like scoring and we did when a Carroll run into the box was stopped when his legs were whipped away from him. With penalty king Boyce on the touchline, Nayee bobbled one home and it was game on. We pushed on and finally equalised when Berry was released and, after what seemed like an eternity, he cooly slotted home. Here we go and we should have taken the lead 10 mins later when a Boyce free kick was swung in and Carroll had a free header 6 yards out and just as we expected the ball to hit the back of the net he could only shoulder the ball over the bar.
Unfortunately 5 mins later an extremely controversial goal handed Owens the lead. A free kick was awarded to Owens just as the ball from the middle pitch game came into our box and Sean ran over to kick it away. As we waited, Owens threw the ball down and quickly poked it through to their striker who was standing 5 yards minimum offside, clearly not ready or expecting the pass. The game paused as their striker and everyone else waited for the whistle but it never came. One of their players shouted put it away and he duely did. Another pause as 11 players in claret and blue stood motionless trying to understand how that had just been allowed until reality kicked in. The final 6/7 mins were played out with a sense of injustice. Owens were the better side, dont get me wrong, but we had fought hard to get ourselves back level only to lose to a goal like that.
We have to take the attitude and the way we played on the front foot in the second half into the rest of our games if we are to make a success out of this season.

In the end a fairly comfortable victory. We arrived with barely 20 mins to go to kick off due to horrendous traffic and as a result started a little off pace. But we gradually started to get on top and after 20 mins were 2-0 up. Berry finished off a good move and Harris scored from the spot after being brought down. We also missed 3 absolute sitters. Sean continued his habit of missing from 5 yards whilst completely free, Berry missed an open goal and Spenny missed a free header from close range.
Complacency was the main issue we had to content with, especially has Kew had a couple of good players who might cause some trouble if we switched off. But we were generally fairly comfortable. Charkham scored a cracker of a free kick to make it 3 and Sean raced through late on to smash the ball home from close range to finish the scoring.

And therein lies our problem. Last week against 2nd place
Weirside we were poor, this week against top of the table
Carshalton, we were excellent. We need to have the same
attitude for every minute of every game and until we have
that, we may throw away the opportunity to gain at least
promotion this season.
In our previous encounter with Carshalton we had play the
entire second half with 9 players due to injuries in the game,
and had to endure shouts of “ole” from the Carshalton
players as they passed the ball around us – we didn’t need
much to get everyone up for this game.
From the first minute we were the side on top. We created
chances straight away with Berry twice failing to get free
headers on target. No matter because After another corner we
Harris had a shot cleared of the line but followed up to force
home, 1-0. Almost immediately Jakobsson was sent clean
through one on one but fired straight at the keeper when a
cooler head would have been better. As the game settled
down we were still on top but Carshaton were having more of
the ball and I was dreading those missed chances but after 30
mins Berry was put through, rounded the keeper who tried to
barge him but Sam was strong and slotted home.
Half time came and we were prepared for anything they
could throw at us but it was us who raised our game and who
even more the dominant side. Chances were coming and
another great move released Harris who made it 3-0. We
were still missing clear chances and when Harris was again
put through to complet his hat trick to make it 4-0, I would
not be exaggerating if I said we could/should have been 7-0
up. Garrard came on and did well to get one on one with the
keeper but then missed a sitter. Unfortunately we then started
to drop our levels and Carshalton got 2 goals back in the last
10 mins, one a great shot, to give a false, final score-line of
4-2.
The attitude from everyone was superb today. We worked in
little teams to hound the player with the ball and when we got
it back we were intelligent with the way we used it. More of
the same is needed if we aren’t to throw this away.

Apologies in advance for this rather brief, lacking in humour match report, but having forgot to do one last night i am typing this from work. The attacking performance on a decent pitch deserves better.
From the moment Boycey left to go and watch Arsenal (or, i suspect the Old Owens final) Ebogs ripped through the Lyonian defence with, at times, some great attacking football.
The scoring was started after good work from James released Nayee for a finish which can only be described as 'a work of art'. Some find our beautiful game a brutish affair but it is moments like this which should remind us all of our responsibility to provide a touch of finesse and entertainment. Anyone, can put a ball in the net, but try telling Michelangelo anyone can paint a ceiling....With one swipe of Nayees cultured paintbrush on to the canvas, the rout began....Someone please explain Metaphors to Chalky and that Michelangelo was a painter not a Teenage ninja mutant turtle.
A visibly stunned Lyonians then succumbed to further goals from a brave James header after good work from Jakobson, a calm finish from Innes, an own goal after more good work from James, and the renowned left, right and header, 'perfect' hat trick from Berry. The final Berry goal, perhaps a synopsis of our play with a good team move, ending with the perfect cross from Nayees paintbrush and a bullet header from Berry.

Though promotion may now be unlikely, this was the ideal chance to show that this group of players were capable of showing some pride in their club and continuing to fight til the very end of the season. This was the first stage of a positive answer, but plenty of hard work still ahead. The main objective is to try and enjoy our footy, and on a big, great pitch we certainly did that.
For not the first time this season we embarked on a long trip with the bare 11. This is something the players and the club need to look into as it nearly tripped us up again. After some motivating words from Clarkey we set off at a high tempo, and Harris was rewarded straight away for his eager running, pouncing on a mistake, and finishing the way we have come to expect. Unfortunately we switched off momentarily and fell to the first attack the other way, 1-1.
A major blow followed shortly after when my hero, Neil Tilcock came under a migraine inducing strong challenge, and had to go off leaving us with mad dog Carroll in goal, and 10 men. To our great credit we didnt shirk the challenge and held our own for 15 mins or so before we were helped out by an HSBC player inexplicably kicking out at Spenny off the ball. 10 vs 10. Why anyone would want to kick Spenny is beyond me.
With wide spaces appearing we played some great stuff and deservedly re took the lead when Harris notched againwith a well directed header. An end to end game saw HSBC equalise before Goals Nayee won it with 10 to go, reacting quickest to a looping Berry header that rebounded off the bar. Thats 7 for the season - Read it and weep Nuckey!
Some great football and good attitudes all round bode well for the season run in.
It was also a great site to see Sean Carrol shivering in goal during a hail storm.
The lads had some well earned beers in Town after the game, stopping off in the 'rainbow flagged 'Halfway to heaven' first.....I think Chalky and Sean are still there.
